The Global Pediatrics Specialists Alliance conducted a one-week pediatric surgical mission trip to Palenque, in the province of Chiapas, Mexico. During this time, a multidisciplinary team of eight pediatric surgery professionals—including operating room nurses, nurse practitioners, residents, fellows, and attending pediatric surgeons—worked collaboratively to provide specialized surgical care to children in the region.
Throughout the week, the team was actively involved in the evaluation, operative management, and postoperative care of pediatric patients with a wide range of surgical conditions. In addition to delivering direct patient care, the mission emphasized knowledge sharing, hands-on teaching, and capacity building with local healthcare providers. Plans are in place to continue supporting the region through future mission visits, as well as through sustained educational partnerships and exchange of clinical knowledge.
This mission reflects our organization’s ongoing commitment to improving access to high-quality pediatric surgical care globally while empowering local teams through collaboration and education.
