In November 2025, a multidisciplinary team—including neonatology, family medicine, and pediatric dentistry—embarked on a mission to the Women and Children’s Hospital in Da Nang, Vietnam. The mission opened at the 3rd Regional Asia-Oceanic Network of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), where our team led sessions on newborn resuscitation for extremely preterm infants and the transition to immediate KMC.
Following the conference, our team was joined by clinicians from Mongolia and the Solomon Islands for a week of hands-on clinical service. The collaboration focused on sustainable neonatal care, including the construction of bubble CPAP systems for low-resource settings, IV access, and advanced wound care. Clinical rounds provided a forum for complex case management—addressing congenital chylothorax, TEF, sepsis, and syphilis—while formal lectures covered the spectrum of respiratory support from non-invasive methods to SIMV and HFOV ventilation. Simultaneously, our family medicine and dental teams provided vital education on preventative childhood diseases and oral hygiene.
We appreciate the growth that has developed from our collaboration with the providers from Vietnam. We are looking forward to our next visit.
